Students from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow University and Glasgow School of Art collaborate with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra on a programme of delights featuring music, dance, composition and British Sign Language.
The performance features four intertwining pieces inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream, including a special recording by David Tennant.
The programme is curated by Graham McLaren, currently associate director for the National Theatre of Scotland, and presented by Jamie MacDougall.
About Shakespeare Lives
Shakespeare Lives marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare – widely acknowledged as the greatest of all playwrights and the most extensively read and studied author in the English language.
Shakespeare Lives is an international online Shakespeare festival which enables audiences in the UK and around the world to experience, in one place, a remarkable collection showcasing the creative range of the Bard’s work and its reinterpretation by artists in all art forms.
Shakespeare’s Globe, the British Film Institute, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Hay Festivals and the Royal Opera House have come together with the BBC and the British Council to create this unique and pioneering partnership, which will launch with Shakespeare Day Live, a live stream on 22nd and 23rd April 2016 to coincide with the 400th anniversary.
Hosted and distributed by the BBC, the festival is supported by the British Council as a co-producer, enabling partner organisations to make their work available on this site.
